1. Due to the Covid-19, the entire process of the Global Leadership English Challenge 2021 will be held online. Participants must prepare an internet connection, personal computer with a camera, microphone and speaker (Both Speech and Essay participants).
  2. All qualified students for the final round (including student nominees and 2020 finalists) should make payment for the final round. Payments should be made no later than 30 October 2021 and you will not able to attend the final round unless your payment is completed within the given date. Please contact us timely if you experience any problems.
  3. Participants who are applying for both Speech and Essay should purchase tickets for each sector.
  4. Identification Slip (Admission Ticket) will be provided after the Final Round Registration Period (2021/10/18 - 2021/10/30).
  5. Print out your ID slip before the final round. (Print available at 2021/11/01 - 2021/11/06)
  6. Make sure to test the Zoom meeting here.
  7. As part of a monitoring and further examination, the entire contest procedure will be recorded. All participants are considered to consent to the video/audio recordings and the use of recordings being used by the GLEC Vietnam Secretariat. The use of recordings may include: supervision, examination, edit, website post, etc.
  8. All awardees will be eligible to participate in the Global GLEC Conference (GGC). GGC consists of UN Briefing, Global Agenda Debate, UN Career Development, Cultural Exchange, Group/Individual Presentation, etc. For detailed programs, please refer to [Global GLEC Conference (click)].

Important Notes

  1. Make sure to print out the Identification Slip (Admission Ticket) with your individual Registration No. for the identification procedure. If any of your personal details have errors, please contact glec@hopetofuture.org timely.
  2. You must participate in the contest using a computer with a camera and a working microphone. Do not attempt using a tablet or a mobile phone.
  3. Be seated and record the video with a plain background behind you.
  4. Check the lighting in the room to ensure that your face is clearly visible.
  5. Surfing the internet, using the shortcuts and operating system functions like Ctrl+V, Ctrl+Alt+Del, Alt+Tab, Print Screen etc. are strictly prohibited.
  6. We consider the following to be acts of dishonesty. If we discover that you have engaged in any of the following while participating in the contest, your results will be invalidated.
  • Opening another webpage or browsing another website
  • Using notes, smartphones or other materials
  • Talking on the phone or to other people
  • Someone other than you takes any portion of the contest
  • Someone else is in the room while you are taking the contest
  • Other dishonest acts

Speech Guidelines

Elementary School Track (Grade 4-5): 3 minutes
Middle School Track (Grade 6-8): 4 minutes
High School Track (Grade 9-12): 4 minutes
University Track: 5 minutes


* Only a slight excess or a shortfall from the time limit (10~15 sec) will not affect your score. When your speech continues further than the given time, the examiners may stop at their discretion.
Process
Zoom Test Meeting (click)

1. Enter Zoom at the individual contest date and time as given on the individual ID slip. (No changes available)
2. Wait in the Zoom waiting room until your turn.
3. Automatically move into a Zoom breakout room (individual speech room) by GLEC Vietnam Secretariat.
4. Present speech within the time limit. (No PPT allowed)
5. Automatically removed from the Zoom room.

* Speech content should be equivalent to the script file submitted in the preliminary round. Only minor changes of words are allowed, and any other difference between the script and speech will be considered as a lack of effort for memorizing.
* After the presentation, further questions related to the speech may be asked by the UN expert or the native professor. The Q&A session is also evaluated.

3. URL for the final round platform will be shared through a Zoom chat.
4. Move to a final round platform.
5. Check your track appeared on the page and submit your essay within the given time limit.

* Surfing the internet, using the shortcuts and operating system functions like Ctrl+V, Ctrl+Alt+Del, Alt+Tab, Print Screen etc. are strictly prohibited.
